Ultimate Blends - The delicate Soother ♡

Hi hunny's! 

Being a hairdresser, I like to try the high street products that you guys rave about so I can have an alternative to recommend to clients who buy from the shelves instead of in salons. 

Recently I have heard great reviews  on Ultimate Blends 'The Delicate Soother'. I LOVE some of the others in the Ultimate blends range so why not give this one a go!? 

 I picked these up in ASDA for £2 each! So £6 for shampoo, conditioner and a body lotion. What a steal!!

First of all the smell of this range is beautiful! I could smell it without even opening the bottle! The main ingredients are rice cream and oat milk. The packaging is sooo pretty and girly. Almost a little like the dove packaging as they always go for white and a neutral colour. 

Even the name 'The delicate soother' sounds comforting!! I was worried that it would make my hair lank as my hair is quite fine, but I gave it a go and was pleasantly surprised. This shampoo really soothes your scalp leaving it feeling moisturised and super clean. The shampoo itself is really quite thick, so you don't need much of it. It lathers up lovely and leaves your hair feeling so clean and moisturised. The conditioner is a lot thinner than I thought as I thought it would be more of a treatment style but never the less it did the trick, detangling and nourishing my hair.

All in all I am pleased with this product. And will defo re purchase! You will not be disappointed!

babyliss heated rollers

Babyliss heated rollers, my new best friend.

This set has 20 large, medium and small, soft-to-the-touch, thermo-ceramic rollers that, give a smooth, shiny finish. The rollers line up on horizontal heated bars within the case, so they are easy to store.

It was difficult to source them as most of the heated rollers these days aren't smooth on the roller they have grips, where as these have velvet on which I feel keeps those stray straight ends at bay!

These rollers are so easy to use, you just plug them in, wait for them to heat up, and put them where you want them. I like to do it in 3 layers so that it looks quite bouncy. 

These rollers come with crocodile clips and silver pins for fastening the rollers, I prefer the crocodile clips.

There are tonnes of different ways you can put them in for example you can apply them going forwards of backwards, forwards for more of a flick, and outwards away from the head for more of a curl. Its so much quicker than having to curl all your hair, 

I like to put them in and then do my makeup while they are in then voila! They are also a great idea when you have a few hours to get ready as you can leave the in for as long as you like and your hair won't burn as they will cool in your hair!


They give a smoother look compared to straightener curls and I'd say more of a wave/flick. Here are some photo's where I have used them.

Bargain Shirt dress

So I was in Birmingham yesterday and I made a quick swing by In Primark! I picked up this shirt dress for a mere £13.00! It's so easy to wear and you can dress it up or down, Jeans or leggings, tucked or untucked! I got it for work as we are only allowed to wear black and white!( boring!) I Like to try and wear exciting things as it can be so boring wearing all black.

The Strength Restorer is tailor-made for fragile, prone to splitting, damaged hair. This amazing shampoo is enriched with honey, royal jelly and propolis which  leaves fragile, damaged hair feeling healthier and smoother.

The shampoo is heavenly honey scented which is amazing. It leaves your hair smelling beautiful until you next wash it!

Since using it I've felt my hair is a lot stronger and healthier and unbelievably soft!

Quick and easy loose waves

🌊Loose waves! 🌊

Here is a quick tutorial on how to get these glam loose waves, in just minutes.

 I love this look as it's not as 'done' as the straightener curls look.

This is the tool I'm using to create this look. The Babyliss Pro Classic Hair Conical Tong 32mm-19mm. 

Here are some of the features of this wand:

• This wand allows you to create a number of different curls. 
• The 25 heat settings give you versatility and make the tong ideal for all hair types and thicknesses.
• Separate on/off switch Indicator lights
• Includes Free Protective black heat glove & Matt
• The salon length swivel-cord prevents tangles too!

The top of the barrel is the smallest part at just 19mm, to create tighter curls, and the bottom is 32mm to create a more looser, lived in wave. The very top of the wand has a protective nib so that you can hold it without burning yourself.

 The one disadvantage about this wand is that it does get particularly hot when on the hottest setting.(25) 

• grabbing large sections of hair, I like to divide my hair into 6 parts, 3 per side.
• take one of your sections and apply the wand pointing downward, so that your ends would go on the smallest part of the barrell.
• you can keep the wand horizontal, this creates more of a wave when taken out as apprised to a curl. Doing it this way means you can control more which part of the barrell your hair goes on.
• repeat all the way through your hair, going over any that don't turn out how you'd hoped.
• pull your hands through your hair and shake your head about abit to loosen up the curls.
• spray with hairspray, salt spray or apply your favourite texturiser.
• you'll find throughout the day your curls loosen. I tend to prefer mine on the second day when they are really 'lived in'.

In this picture I have simply pulled back my top layer into a loose low ponytail and secured with a thin bobble. I then took a piece of hair and wrapped it around the bobble to make a more 'knotted' look. I applied some salt spray my hair and brushed the waves out with a large paddle brush so they are not so set.

Silver Shampoo

SILVER SHAMPOO

Here is a small post about silver shampoos. Many blondes can benefit from using this. So i thought i'd share with you my review on this particular one.

Touch of silver Daily maintenance shampoo is my fav for brightening blonde, white or platinum hair. This sensational shampoo brightens and enhances silver tones. Resulting in fresh, health and great looking hair! I have tried a few silver shampoos now including Bleach London, Paul Mitchell and now this one and I must say this is my favourite one. It smells lovely and really makes your hair feel clean after using it. I use this once or twice a week on the ends of my hair as it is slightly lighter than my roots. It really works for me and takes the orange tones out of my hair.

I know clients that struggle to keep their highlighted hair the same colour in the weeks following an appointment as it is when they leave the salon. After a few weeks  hair can become dull, brassy, yellowy blonde. Something that none of us blondes / ombres want. This Shampoo is great for highlights, ombres and full head blondes.

I am reviewing  PRO:VOKE Touch of Silver, Twice a Week Brightening Shampoo because it was a bargain at just £3.00. A lot of the other purple shampoos are quite expensive, starting at £10. 

This shampoo is also great if you home dye your hair (which I don't recommend) and your hair is  slightly gingery or yellow. After a few washes your hair will be brighter and fresher.

Usage:

• Use the shampoo on every other wash. This shampoo can dry out your hair if used too much.
• Leave the shampoo on your hair for a few minutes. Do not leave it in for too long as your hair may turn white or even get lilac-y tinge (unless you want this look!)
• Use a good conditioner afterwards, your hair can become dry with this treatment so this will help help prevent it.

I also have the conditioner to this shampoo which is great as you can use either and leave both on.

Lazy Hairstyles

Unless you're blessed with magic hair, getting your strands to look incredible takes MAJOR time and effort. But, when our alarm clock is the victor in the battle between hitting the snooze button and primping our locks, time and effort are two things we find ourselves lacking 
some most days.

So first. dry shampoo is my saviour. The thought of washing my hair makes me want to cry, and I'm a hairdresser 😂 I often just bully one of the guys at the salon to wash it for me! Hahaa thanks guys! I love batiste's dark and deep brown dry shampoo. As my hair is dark when I use the normal dry shampoo I look 89 because my hair turns grey! With these silver spots all over .. Not an attractive look. I've linked this below.  For blondes, my friend loves the batiste for light and blondes. She finds that it blends seamlessly with her natural colour. MY TOP TIPS:

1.  sleep in plaits! so easy and so effective, gives you that beachy look without spending hours wanding/curling it. If you don't like the straight ends that this style gives you,curl the bottom of the plait with the straighteners.
2. Add some salt spray for some texture
3. Grip with grips upside down- (bumpy side down) They are firmer this way!
4. Sleep in coconut oil/ conditioner for extra nourished hair the next day- wash it a few times to make sure all of the product is out!
5. Plait your hair in about 4 small plaits and leave overnight, not from the root because you'll get that 80's crimped look thats not cute.
6. Ever have hairs that are fly away?- Spraying your brush with hairspray can stop that static electricity and help to keep the frizz at bay.
7. Number 6 is also good when brushing out curls.
8. Cover up bobbles with a piece of hair and grip into place.
9. Two ponytails on top of each other will create a length illusion! making your hair seem longer than it is :)
10. On the second day, change your parting to the side rather than middle- middle parting is harsh and you can see right down all your roots.
11. Baby powder will act as a dry shampoo for those 'oops i've ran out' days!
12. Styling mousse can help lift roots! I love Umberto Gianni's Massive Mousse. Scrunch the moose into damp hair and dry your hair upside down for that extra root boost,you can buy that from here.
13. Adding a fringe can change your look completely, fringe trims are usually free at a local salon and to have a fringe put in it's only a few pounds.

MY BEST KEPT SECRET: 
I've found the most amazing hairspray in the world & I'm going to share it with you. It's called BIG SEXY HAIR. For hairspray, it's quite pricey. It retails between £8-£12, but you won't be dissapointed. I use this for many of my updo's as it really does hold. Even if i backcomb the top of my hair, it often used to fall flat throughout the day, but with this batboy, I find myself combing it out at the end of the day,

I will now run through a few saviours styles that take minutes to recreate but look like you've spent hours mastering them!

Bun
This style is very adaptable, there are so many ways to wear a 'bun' I will talk you through a few of my favourites.

Doughnut
Every where I look these day's there is at-least one person with their hair in this style. It's so undone that it looks so done at the same time. I've noticed a lot of air hostesses have their hair in a doughnut. 

For this look you will need a doughnut, they do these in various colours. Blonde,black,brown are the main colours
You will need:

•  a good paddle brush, 
•  grips,
•  2 hair bobbles
•  hairspray. 

1. Pull your hair into a ponytail and secure with a bobble.
2. Place your doughnut through your ponytail and make sure all your hair is smooth.
3. Tip your head upside down and spread your hair over the doughnut evenly.
4. Take another bobble and place it over the ponytail. 
5. You should be looking like a peacock at this point with your ends sticking out from around the bobble. Twist them, tuck them under the sides of the doughnut and take two or three grips to secure this into place.
6. Finish with some hairspray and grip up any loose shorter pieces that may fall from the down.
7. Pull any pieces down from round the face, for a softer look.
8. Wear on the side for a different look.
9. Keep out a piece of hair so that you can plait it around the bobble.

 Twisty bun
This is again a very simple style that can look very complicated and professional. You will need:

•  a bobble
•  few grips 

1. Pull your hair into a ponytail.
2. Twist the ponytail.
3. Twist it round itself, it should help you along the way in where it wants to fall.
4. Grip into place.
5. Spritz with a bit of hairspray and off you go!

Plait
Another of my favourites for long hair is a plait, one, two,french,dutch or fishtail, they're all gorgeous!

French

you will need :

• bobble
• grips for fringe pieces

1. Start by brushing your hair through to get rid of any lugs.
2. Split you hair into three strands, only using some of your hair.
3. Plait as normal down the hair adding small pieces of hair in as you go along.
4. SIDE NOTE: if you have layers, a bit of gel can help you to keep these in the plait!
5. Bobble the end and squeeze and wiggle the plait a bit to make it look not so 'done'.

Voila! Good to go 

Fish tail

A fish tail plait is similar to a french plait but it only uses two pieces of hair.

1. Divide your hair into two sections
2.  Take a piece of hair and Cross it over from one side of the hair to the other.
3. Keep alternating sides of the hair until you reach the bottom on the plait. You should start to see the plait forming as you go along.
4. You can always tie it off half way down if you fancy spicing it up a bit!
5. Tie a bobble round the bottom to secure it. 
6. Funk it up a bit with some ribbon or a charm.( ideal for children)
7. Bring the plait over the front of your head for a 'milkmaid' plait.

Elegant pin up

you will need

• grips
• hairspray

1. Take sections of hair from the front of your hair bit by bit and grip them on opposite sides.
2. Smooth the hair as your grip it, hiding the grip under the previous piece of hair.
3. Spray hair into place.

Half up 

Why not throw half of it up for a change. You can plait it, bouffant it, twist it, pin curl it.This style looks great whether your hair is curly or straight.

you will need:

• grips
• hairspray
• backcombing brush

1. Back comb the hair so it's better to work with and gives you a bit of height to play with,
2. Decide whether your going to plait,twist or make a beehive. Personally i like it when you plait the very front two sections of your hair and pin them back. One each side,
3. This looks best when your hair has some kind of wave in it,
4. Grip in place,
5. Spray with hairspray.

Middle plait:

This is a super easy style that is very variable.You can dress it up for the weekend and down for the week.

you will need:

grips

1. Section off your hair you wish to plait. I like to section it off with a jaws clip,
2. Bobble the rest of it that you don't want to use,
3. Start your plait right at the front of your head taking thin sections and french plaiting your way down, grip just after the crown. 
4. Use two grips crossed over for a strong hold.

Hair bow:
This is the simplest look, but still super cute. You don't even need a bobble!

1. take two pieces of your hair,
2. Knot them at the back of your head,
3. Form a bow,
4. grip into place,
5. Spray with hairspray.

Sleek ponytail:



This look is super glam, whether your going down the road or on the red carpet. You cant go wrong with a sleek ponytail.

You will need:

• A bobble
• Brush
• hair oil 
• shine spray

1. Comb your hair into a pony-brushing your paddle brush to tame fly aways.
2. Secure at the nape of the neck with a hair coloured bobble.
3. spray shine spray and smooth onto hair.
4. Spray with hairspray
5. Wrap a piece of hair around the bobble to hide it and keep that super sleek look throughout.

Curly up do

This hairstyle is much about creativity, with most hair up's there is no rules and you can do what you want. So if you fail, take it out and do it again until it looks how you want it.

what you will need:

• Pins
• Grips
• Hairspray

1. Curl your hair with the straighteners or whatever you find easiest.
2. Scrunch your hair in your hands and squash flat onto your head,
3. Grip into place- grips are better at this stage as you need to hold up the style, So your grips are your foundations, if you like.
4. Make sure your main heavy places are secure e.g nape of neck and each side.
5. twist small sections to make it more interesting,
6. Use open pins to add twists and tame fly aways.
7. Spray in place.

so hopefully you should not look like this on a monday morning....

SHAMPOOS&CONDITIONERS:

Firstly, I like a lot of shampoo and conditioners at the moment, I don't know about you but I have about 5 different types in my shower and I alternate between them all every time I shower! 
I am forever faithful to 'AUSSIE'. For me its the smell, its just beautiful. I sniff my hair all day when I've used it. I think its got to be one of the best high street brand shampoo's compared to some of the stuff they put on the shelves!(TRESEMME) cough cough. Another I like at the moment is BLEACH's purple shampoos and conditioners. These are brill for the likes of dip dyes and ombre's that can go slightly orange/dull. These also smell nice and leave the hair moisturised but are not too heavy! Another that I'm liking is L'OREAL ELVIVE THICKENING SHAMPOO. I used this for a week and I personally really did notice a difference! Crazy, as what I was taught at hairdressing college was that products don't help but it seems that they really can! Note - not permanent, results are only from wash to wash. I'm very fussy when it comes to shampoo as I don't like anything that leaves my hair feeling too heavy or limp. 

But the all time for me has to be the GARNIER ULTIMATE BLENDS (marvellous transformer) shampoo & conditioner. I often flit between do I want volume or nourishment, but this shampoo seems to manage both without a problem, leaving my hair full and not lank. The packaging isn't the best and you wouldn't be drawn to it on the shelf. This proves its not what it looks like its what's on the inside that counts! (cringe). You may be thinking that doesn't really matter but I know from personal experience i am drawn to the fancy packaging quite often.

LEAVE IN TREATMENTS:

Revlon's UNIQUE 1 spray treatment:

This product is a leave in hair treatment that gives your hair a whole host of benefits. 
It promises 10 benefits for all hair types. Firstly it smells like a holiday in a bottle. Its got a really summery scent and is not too overpowering like some products. These are the promised benefits listed below:

• repair for dry and damaged hair 
• shine & frizz control
• heat protection
• silkiness and smoothness
• hair colour protection contains UVA & UVB filters
• Easier brushing and straightening 
• incredible detangling
• long lasting hairstyle 
• split end prevention
• adds body    

Now I know what your thinking.. yeah right, but it is actually a miracle product. I've been using it for years now and I've really noticed the difference. So yeah, try it! I apply it after washing, before drying. I use about a 2 pence piece sized amount and my hair is mid-length so if shorter/ longer  use less/ more etc... Try it! let me know what you think.

Another one I'm into at the moment is the Schwarzkopf (BONACURE COLOURED ENDS) treatment. Use after washing same as the Unique 1 treatment. About 5 pumps as it's only for the ends. I feel that it just helps banish those dry, crispy ends you get especially if your ends of your hair are bleached/ lightened. Now, we sell this in the salon and i think the RRP is about £12. But if your lucky (a secret tip for you!). You can sometimes find it in the POUNDSHOP! Can you believe it! Which means you can buy that MAC lipstick you wanted AND your hair treatment in one day! :).
